Saga ~ Halfway Into Nightfall

The Wild Wolf
Have you ever run with the wild wolf in the chill of a bleak desert night;
Roaming his territorial ground?
Have you seen through his bright yellow eyes?
'Listened with his ears?
Can you attune to distance and unheard sound?
Did you feel him inside as he cried out in his pain
and cast those feelings up to the heavens and stars?
Did you breath in the same air that singed his lungs from the distance that he has traveled so far?
Can you feel your claws as they shred the sand and your tendons ache as you tread?
Would you take your rest beside of a dark green cactus when weary
and not mind while you slept if you bled?
Will you accompany this creature in nocturnal foray by donning his fur of silver ~ black?
Must you give up your freedom to once again become wild,
and if so. would you wish to go back?
If you were given his soul, his heart and his mind
Would you truly have his courage to journey on?
There are those of us who become this wild wolf each night...
While there are others who just die at first dawn.
